The dieKunstBauStelle association was founded in Landsberg am Lech in 2014 by stakeholders from various fields of art, cultural education and civic engagement. The aim of the non-profit association is to promote art and culture. The projects are funded by European, federal and state grants and foundations.

In 2018, the association launched the 1st Wolf Durmashkin Composition Prize as an innovative format of remembrance culture and for the first time placed the topic of “Music and the Holocaust” at the center of an international composition competition. The association is a member of the Landesstiftung Wertebündnis Bayern, where it is also represented on the speaker’s council. In addition to the head office in Landsberg, the association has regional offices in Augsburg, Berlin, Venice and Istanbul. Another focus is on digital and multimedia formats in art and culture.
