Gustav Mahler Private University for Music
(GMPU) in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is the youngest university in Austria, but one that can look back on almost 200 years of history (1828 music association with school, 1932 conservatory, 2019 university) looks back. Its proximity to Italy and Slovenia as well as to Lake Wörthersee makes Klagenfurt an ideal place for inspiring studies. There is also iCarinthia has a long tradition of composing: Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms, Anton Webern and Alban Berg deliberately chose the region around Lake Wörthersee to compose in peace and quiet.
