Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra

For 27 years, the non-profit association Bayerische Philharmonie has been conceived and committed as a multinational and intergenerational institution. Its purpose is to promote musicians with the aim of teaching symphonic music-making and making music professionally. This also takes place in the sense of broad-based musical education and the promotion of young talent, among other things by supporting young talents with a special musical talent.

In connection with its artistic and educational program, it has always been of particular importance for the Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra to dedicate itself equally to social commitment and thus cultivate a culture of social co-responsibility.

The association

The Bavarian Philharmonic Association was founded on December 6, 1994. Its purpose is to support musicians with the aim of teaching them the basics of symphonic music-making and making music professionally.

This also takes place in the sense of broad-based musical education and the promotion of young talent, among other things by supporting young talents with a special musical talent.

Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Philharmonic

The Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Philharmonic was founded in January 2008 from 16 outstanding members of the Junge Münchner Philharmonie and is thus the first professional orchestra of the Bavarian Philharmonic. The orchestra’s musical director is Mark Mast.

The impetus for founding this fifth ensemble of the association came from the opening of the Kemptner Stadttheater in October 2007, where these musicians were involved in providing the musical backdrop. Concerts have since taken the ensemble throughout Germany, Europe and Russia.

The Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Philharmonic Orchestra gave a concert on the MS Deutschland in 2014 and presented the Mozart+ program in 2015. The ensemble’s performance at the Bavarian Philharmonic’s Orff Days 2015
attracted a great deal of attention.

Recordings of the concerts have been broadcast several times by Bayerischer Rundfunk and Südwestfunk. The repertoire of the Bavarian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra includes works from all eras – from baroque, classical and romantic to contemporary compositions.
